On October 14, 1980, Bob caught a 1,145 pound Giant Tuna on rod and reel and was awarded a citation from Massachusetts Governor Edward King for catching the largest fish in Massachusetts waters that year. He reeled in two Giant Tuna that day, the second one weighing 973 pounds.
Bob began saltwater fishing in 1971 and was immediately put to work as a mate on his Uncle's charter fishing boat "Aquarius" which sailed out of Barnstable Harbor on Cape Cod. Captain Len Hultgren was one of the most popular and successful fisherman on Cape Cod Bay in the 1970's, 80's, and 90's.
